Tips for Booking Your Next Hog Hunt These tips will help you with making sure your next hog hunt is enjoyable and memorable. When looking for an outfitter ask these questions: 1) What style of hunt do you offer? Not all hog outfitters and guides offer the same type of hunts. The options are: stand hunting, stalking, hunting with dogs, and hunting on swamp buggies. Make sure you match the hunt with what you are looking for. 2) What type of weapon can I use? When hunting hogs the type of weapon can depend on the type of hunt you book. Talk to your guide or outfitter and make sure you bring the right weapon. You can hunt hog with pistols, rifles, shotgun, bow, crossbow, knife and spears. 3) How much property is your hunt performed on? This can vary greatly depending on the guide or outfitter. I have heard of hog hunts being performed on as little as 100 acres. WAY TOO SMALL for me, but it may satisfy you for a hog hunt. That's extremely small but if that is what you are looking for there are outfitters out there that satisfy everyone's needs. 4) How much is the hunt? This all depends. There are flat rate hunts, daily fee hunts, daily fees plus animal charge depending on the size of the animal, etc. Make sure you understand the costs before you book the hunt so there are no surprises. 5) What services are provided for the price of the hunt? Some guides or outfitters provide, room and board, some meals, most cleaning and quartering of the hog, some charge a processing fee, some charge for guarantee hunts. 6) What do you bring? Make sure to ask the guide or outfitter what you should bring on your hunt. Also, talk with the guide or outfitter about your weapon and your experience level. By asking all these questions it should help you prepare for your next hunt and to make it a successful one. Good luck and happy hunting!
